Department of Biochemistry
The Department of Biochemistry at Sri Venkateswara College, University of Delhi was established in the year 1989. The undergraduate program, a brainchild of Padma Vibhushan Late Prof. B. K. Bachhawat was started to groom the scientific inquisitiveness in young students. His vision, and the invaluable efforts of our former principal Dr. V. Krishna Moorthy have consolidated the roots of the department. In 2015, the Department completed its journey of 25 years. Even today, the parent Biochemistry Department, UDSC continues to inspire and support the department. The objective of the undergraduate course in Biochemistry at Sri Venkateswara College is to develop a scientific aptitude in the students and to motivate them for research in Life Sciences. Three years of intense training gives them a sound knowledge of the fundamentals of the subject and a fairly good idea about the recent developments in Biochemistry / Biotechnology. By the end of their Third year, students gain expertise in the latest biochemical techniques and learn to appreciate the applications of basic science in the field of biotechnology and modern medicine.
